About ICO
ICO is the icon format of Windows. One file holds the same icon at several sizes, often from 16 up to 256 pixels, so each place it appears gets a sharp one.
It's also the classic favicon, the little icon in a browser tab, which is why so many sites still have a favicon.ico. A CUR file is the same format for mouse pointers, with a hot spot that marks where it clicks.
Browsers show ICO files by themselves. Filepeek adds the zoom, so tiny icons can be seen pixel by pixel, and Save as PNG.
