About PEF
PEF is the raw format of Pentax digital cameras, from K series DSLRs like the K-1 and K-3 Mark III to the medium format 645Z. Pentax is now part of Ricoh Imaging, and its cameras still offer PEF.
Most Pentax cameras let you choose between PEF and DNG for raw photos. A PEF is built on TIFF and holds 12 or 14 bits per pixel, usually with lossless compression.
No browser shows PEF by itself. Filepeek develops it with LibRaw, the open source raw decoder, using the camera's white balance. Show EXIF lists the camera, the lens and the settings, and Export saves a JPEG or PNG.

Questions
What's the difference between PEF and DNG?
Both hold the same raw data. PEF is Pentax's own format, and DNG is Adobe's open one, which Pentax cameras can save instead. Filepeek opens both.
Why does it look flatter than on my camera?
Your camera applies its Custom Image, like Bright or Vibrant, with extra contrast, color and sharpening, to the photos it shows and saves as JPEG. Filepeek develops the raw data neutrally, with the camera's white balance, so the photo can look flatter here.
How do I convert PEF to JPEG?
Open it here, choose Export, then Save as JPEG. The raw is developed and saved on your device, so you get a JPEG without uploading anything.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The PEF is developed inside your browser and never leaves your device.
